Dear Warm Bodies,
At first glance, I thought you were truly what I saw. When I brought you home, it was already too late. I couldn't part with you; you kept me awake for hours.
We met at this new bookshop at Raffles Place. I was not surprised to see you at the new arrival table. You had Rob Patterson and Kristen Stewart on your cover. Surely, every bookshop would welcome you. However, you didn't impress me. I picked you up out of curiosity. I wanted to find out what kind of zombie story were you that two superstars from the vampire trilogy, Twilight would take you on. I flipped to see who wrote you. Issac Marion. No college education. Delivered deathbeds to hospice patients. Now, you had my attention.
You didn't scare me even though I was reading you till the wee hours. Your zombie character, R does not have rotten skin. He questions why zombies have to eat people and listens to Frank Sinatra. I like how Marion wrote you; his writing is rhythmic and I danced along with his words - never feeling tired. You have him to thank that as the hours passed, I was falling in love with the way you spoke. You were poetic and philosophical. In a sea of zombie books, you surprised me. You were different. And of course, in the end I realised that the two actors on your cover weren't Rob and Kristen. It was a mistake, but I'm not regretting it.
